Choosing Your Favourite Paintball Equipment and your Playing Field

Author: Terry Price

When playing your favorite paintball maneuver it's important to select the paintball equipment that works for you and the type of field that you enjoy the most. For the weekend warrior or recreational player, it is sometimes just fun to get your paintball gear together and find a good heavily-wooded area, although paintball-designated areas are all that you really need. However, for the more specialized player, areas called a Concept Field, or commonly referred to as a scenario field are very popular. With a concept field, you're going to find lots of creative setups, and when you arrive there will most likely be a commercial establishment on site. Here you will find a field that consists of some fake buildings that have windows to shoot from. Sometimes multi-story, this is commonly referred to as an urban assault field. You may find various other urban objects including some old cars to shoot paintballs out of, as well. Another great paintball field set-up is the medieval castle with its various objects like wagons or haystacks around it to provide cover.

If you're interested in action-filled excitement, concept play is that much more. You're going to be immersed in immediate action, this being the primary reason that some players prefer this type of field rather than the woods. Remember though, with fast action you'll have to know your paintball equipment very well and learn how to take advantage of your field quickly. One of the best parts of combat play is that you constantly need to change your strategy. Although buildings may look appealing as a cover, they can leave you stuck and vulnerable. Or if you choose to have a shoot- out from underneath a car, it's also possible for your opponent to shoot at you easier.

If you select a speedball field to use your paintball equipment, this is essentially a field that simply has a series of bunkers and no other obstacles across the entire playing field. The speedball field is typically small with closely-grouped bunkers where players are in a firefight from the time the whistle blows to when it stops. It is always filled with action! These fields can also be very large, and are commonly referred to as hyper-ball fields, unlike those that are small. Remember to have fun, but watch your back!
