Reduce Clutter to Reduce Stress

Author: Tim Gorman

How many times have you thought to yourself, If only I wasnt under so much stress? Sometimes the very nature of stressful situations is that there is nothing you can do to eliminate or avoid them. But there are some very real ways that you can reduce the stress in your life, and start feeling more in control.

Start by looking around your home. Is it organized? Everything in its place? What about your office? Picture perfect? Your car? All a mess, right? Studies show one of the major contributing factors to stress is disorganization. Lucky for us, that is something that we can do something about, starting now.

No one expects your home to be a showplace and if they do, tell nicely to go jump in a lake! Everyone is busy, and our homes reflect that now-a-days. But if you have to search for fifteen minutes each morning just to find your car keys, if you have forgotten to make a payment just because you misplaced your bill these are signs that your house is disorganized, and that disorganization is causing more stress.

Focus on functional. Organize your house for the way you live in it. Do your shoes wind up by the door? Put a basket there for them. Hooks are great put them everywhere! That way, towels, coats, keys, hats, etc. all end up on the hooks and not on the floor. And one final note trash cans! Buy cute ones and put them all over your house. Your home will be more organized and less stress-inducing in no time.
